RECORDED WEBINAR: Available after live webinar
Register today for this online workshop in which Jana & Marco will address the challenges and constraints that literary translators, both emerging and established, ought to consider and be prepared to face in Aotearoa New Zealand.
Jana & Marco live their passion for and commitment to translation, especially to literary translation, as a form of intercultural communication in practice and an expression of their cultural activism. As non-native speakers of English, educated and now working in English-speaking countries in both hemispheres, they share an uncompromising approach to translating from and into their second language – English. From skillsets to training, breaking through, visibility, reputation and even remuneration, literary translation is a hard nut to crack.
Jana & Marco will discuss – in an uncensored but hopefully uplifting way – why this is the case worldwide, and particularly in Aotearoa New Zealand, and why the way forward is to remove the glitter and take on the grit.
This presentation will be recorded and the recording made available to registered participants soon after.
