Patrick King was a founding member of NZSTI and worked in translation and language services for his 45-year career. Early on, he worked as a New Zealand government translator and editor and spent several years as a freelance translator. In 1985, he co-founded The New Zealand Translation Centre (NZTC) and was its Senior Editor and Co-Director for many years. As head of NZTC’s translation and editorial teams, Patrick had a particular interest in the company’s Quality Management process, on which much of its reputation is based.

Patrick served on the NZSTI Council for many years and served as both its Vice-President and President. He was made a Fellow of the Society in July 2010.
