Local events hosted by NZSTI branches around the country and open to everyone

NZSTI has three local branches: Auckland, Wellington and Canterbury (Christchurch). These branches play a key role in serving our members in those areas by organising local in-person events throughout the year (presentations, social events, and more). These provide an opportunity for NZSTI members to come together, discuss industry-related issues and questions, and connect with colleagues.

While most branch events are for members only, the branches also organise events open to non-members, which offer a great opportunity for T&I professionals and students to discover NZSTI and meet others working in the industry.

You must be logged in to register for events and access discounted prices (if applicable). If you do not yet have an NZSTI account, please create one before registering, by following this helpful guide.

Event Detail

Join us for an event focusing on what we can do to support each other professionally

Following up on some of the topics of our recent NZSTI Conference, this café-style event will allow plenty of time for catching up with other members and small-group discussions on the following topics:

Interpreters:

  • NAATI certification from 2024 for working with government agencies (preparing for the NAATI test, importance of PD)
  • Managing wellbeing as a freelance interpreter
  • Connecting with other NZSTI interpreters: introducing NZSTI peer support groups (will count as PD)

Translators:

  • Managing wellbeing and work/life balance as a freelance translator (work from home set-up, boundaries around work, digital overload)
  • Establishing a mentoring scheme for translators
  • Lunch time catch-ups with other translators (real/virtual)

Any questions? Please email auckland@nzsti.org

The room will be open from 6.30 pm with our discussions starting at 7.00 pm. Refreshments are provided. How to get there.

We look forward to seeing you on 4 August!
