NZSTI 2021 Online Conference: Call for presentations

In an ever more diverse Aotearoa and a globalised market, language professionals play a vital role in connecting people and businesses from different cultural and linguistic backgrounds. With the impact of Covid-19, working conditions are changing faster than ever before. New platforms, technologies and workflows are emerging and professional standards are under the spotlight. The way language services are procured and provided and the way translators and interpreters work and connect with their customers is adapting to changed circumstances.

Under the theme RECONNECT, ADAPT, GROW, NZSTI’s first ever online conference will bring together language professionals, industry stakeholders and scholars to discuss the future of language services and explore how to best meet the challenges and opportunities currently facing the T&I industry.

Through online presentations, workshops, panel discussions and networking opportunities, translators and interpreters will be able to:

RECONNECT with colleagues and expand their professional network
ADAPT to a changing landscape using insights from experts
GROW their skills and add value to their business

Expert translators and interpreters, academics and industry specialists are invited to submit proposals for presentations, workshops and panel discussions by 31 March 2021.

If you would like to share your knowledge and experience, you are invited to email a summary outline of up to 300 words along with a 50 word bio about yourself and the preferred format and length of your presentation by 31 March 2021 to and

Formats include:
  • Presentation (20–50 minutes plus 10 minutes for questions)
  • Workshop (30–120 minutes in one or more sessions)
  • Panel discussion (30–120 minutes)
We will inform you by 16 April 2021 at the latest whether your proposal has been accepted.
