Local events hosted by NZSTI branches around the country and open to everyone

NZSTI has three local branches: Auckland, Wellington and Canterbury (Christchurch). These branches play a key role in serving our members in those areas by organising local in-person events throughout the year (presentations, social events, and more). These provide an opportunity for NZSTI members to come together, discuss industry-related issues and questions, and connect with colleagues.

While most branch events are for members only, the branches also organise events open to non-members, which offer a great opportunity for T&I professionals and students to discover NZSTI and meet others working in the industry.

You must be logged in to register for events and access discounted prices (if applicable). If you do not yet have an NZSTI account, please create one before registering, by following this helpful guide.

In conjunction with the NZSTI Conference 2024, NZSTI is hosting a face-to-face NAATI CPI Test Preparation Workshop in Auckland on Friday 6 September 2024. This is an all day, in-person workshop with a maximum of 18 people. Attendees will need to bring their own lunch and/or snacks as catering will not be provided.

Register for a NAATI Certified Provisional Interpreter test preparation workshop to find out what to expect during the test and to brush up on the skills you will be tested on.

WHAT IS COVERED

  • Information about CPI testing, such as format, topics and demonstrations.
  • CPI marking and expectations of performance
  • Managing interaction
  • Practice interpreting role-plays and feedback

These workshops are aimed at people who have met the minimum training required by NAATI and who are therefore eligible to sit for a NAATI test. If you still need qualifications in order to be eligible to sit the CPI test, complete those qualifications first.

These workshops are designed to support interpreters in achieving the new certification requirement, meaning that those who have received an entitlement note from MBIE may attend this workshop free of charge. You must upload your entitlement note to your NZSTI profile (first create a profile if you are not yet a member) before registering for the event in order to be able to attend free of charge.
