Translators and interpreters deal with language every day. Here’s an opportunity to expand your written skills in a creative way.
This writing workshop will cover very short fiction (also known as flash fiction), and poetry, with a number of exercises to warm up your writing muscles and get you thinking about the form, sound and visual aspects of poetry, and how these might differ from - but sometimes also contribute to - the nature of a narrative. We will work on separate poetry and short fiction exercises; we will also try one where we approach the same material first as a narrative, and then as a poem. There will be a chance to share these ’sudden drafts' for people who are keen; but that isn’t compulsory by any means. The main aim is to give participants a number of ‘rough starts’ or early seeds for poems or flash fiction that they can take away to polish up later, if they wish.
Registrations close on 15 June 2022 . The Zoom link will be sent to registered participants on the day.
