10 NAATI recertification points

In this webinar, Joachim returns to NZSTI to provide a practical update on the rapidly evolving AI landscape. Building on his previous session, he will explore recent developments in tools such as ChatGPT and Google Gemini, and what these changes mean for translators and interpreters working across different settings.

The session will introduce how AI can be used as a tool to support language professionals, including where it can assist with research, documentation, drafting, brainstorming, terminology, marketing, administrative tasks, advanced learning, and more. Joachim will also share practical approaches to prompting, helping attendees understand how to communicate effectively with AI tools and get more reliable and relevant outputs.

Joachim is a specialist in AI and language technologies, working closely with translators and interpreters to explore how emerging tools can support professional practice. He regularly delivers training and presentations for language professionals internationally, focusing on practical applications and critical engagement with AI.

Alongside practical examples, the webinar will also reflect on the broader implications of AI for the profession, including ethical considerations, professional responsibility, and where human expertise remains essential. This session is designed to support translators, interpreters, and students to feel more confident navigating AI in their work, with a clear understanding of both opportunities and limitations.
