Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming many industries, including interpreting. While large language models (LLMs) have been used in translation for years, their expansion into AI-generated interpreting raises pressing questions for healthcare and legal interpreters. Some companies in the United States are now proposing to replace human interpreters with AI—but is this feasible, ethical, or even safe?
This session will explore the capabilities, limitations, and ethical considerations of AI-generated interpreting in health and legal settings, helping interpreters understand where AI may be useful and where human expertise remains irreplaceable.
This webinar will be delivered by two leading experts in healthcare interpreting and language access:
- Cindy Roat – A globally recognised consultant on language access in healthcare, trainer, author, and advocate for equitable healthcare communication.
- Ineke Crezee ONZM – Distinguished linguist and professor at Auckland University of Technology, specialised in healthcare interpreting and interpreter education.
This is a must-attend webinar for interpreters who want to stay ahead of industry changes, understand AI’s role, and be prepared to advocate for human expertise in interpreting.
This webinar will not be recorded.
