Online Zoom
10 NAATI PD Points
Part of the NZSTI Business Toolkit series, this webinar offers practical guidance for translators and interpreters working as freelancers and contractors.
Framed as a freelancer finance starter kit, it covers the key aspects of managing your finances in Aotearoa, from getting set up through to handling income, expenses, and tax. This includes core setup considerations, invoicing and payments, separating business finances, and understanding obligations such as income tax, GST, and ACC.
Practical examples will be used throughout to show what a compliant tax invoice looks like, how to approach setting aside money for tax, and what a simple monthly workflow could look like. The session will also include a comparison of tools such as HNRY and Xero to help you decide what suits your current stage of work.
Relevant for translators and interpreters at all stages, as well as students considering freelance work, this webinar aims to provide a clear and manageable approach to the business side of your work.
The session will be presented by Caitlin Taylor, Marketing and Events Manager at NZSTI, who supports professional development initiatives and is currently developing the Business Toolkit for NZSTI members.
