Help us to rekindle our shared love of working with languages. Tell us where you find joy in your work. Do you have a way of working, a network, a technique, a plan, an experience that helps you and that you’d like to share with others? Join us as we look for positives in the currently challenging environment for language professionals. We’d love to hear from you.

We’ve extended the deadline for presentation proposals to 28 March 2022.

Pop your idea for a presentation into a 300-word proposal and send it to us at conference@nzsti.org by 28 March 2022.

Through talks, workshops, panel discussions and plenty of networking opportunities, you will be able to:

• connect with colleagues and expand their professional network
• explore insights from translation and interpreting studies and industry trends
• develop their skills and add value to their business

Translators and interpreters, academics and industry specialists are invited to submit proposals for presentations, workshops and panel discussions by 28 March 2022.

Here are some ideas:

• How do we experience joy in language?
• Do language professionals, bilingual or multilingual people experience the world differently?
• Is translation an art or a science? Is there joy in both approaches?
• How do we convince clients of the value of investing in language services?
• How do we market ourselves and/or promote our profession?
• How can we organise our day so we have time to enjoy our work? (i.e. organisational tools, harnessing technology, outsourcing, mindset, mindfulness)
• Passion vs profession: how does the way we view and describe our work affect how it’s valued by clients and the general public?

If you would like to share and present your knowledge and experience, please email a summary outline of up to 300 words and a 50-word bio about yourself by 28 March 2022 to conference@nzsti.org

 
The following formats are possible:

• Presentation (20 minutes or 35 minutes, plus 10 minutes for questions)
• Workshop (60-120 minutes)
• Panel discussion (60-90 minutes)

We will inform you by 15 April 2022 at the latest whether your proposal has been accepted.
