If you hold a valid current entitlement note, you may register for one Interactional Management workshop. Once you have done that workshop, you may register for a second (subject to availability).
Workshop dates listed below.
This 3-hour workshop will go into the details of how to successfully and efficiently manage the interaction between speakers in community interpreting.
The workshop is aimed at interpreters working in community settings who would like to dive deeper into interactional management and gain confidence in cutting in, asking for clarification and repetition, managing asides, turn-taking, overlapping talk and more. The workshop is particularly aimed at those interpreters who are going to sit the NAATI test or who need to re-sit a NAATI test because their interactional management skills did not fall within bands 1-3.
We will be covering interpreting theory, interactional management expectations in the NAATI CPI test, video and text demonstrations, practice in class and small groups with individual feedback from peers and presenters as well as general feedback.
There will be an initial presentation followed by 1.5 hours of practice and final questions at the end. The aim of this practical workshop is to give interpreters more confidence in managing the interaction, to provide them with concrete tips and takeaways, and to equip them with the necessary interactional management skills for the NAATI CPI test.
Numbers limited to 12 per workshop. Due to the limited numbers, preference will be given to interpreters who hold a valid current entitlement note.
If you do not have a valid entitlement note and wish to be waitlisted for an event, please email [email protected] and advise which date you want to attend. We will advise 1-2 weeks prior to the workshop if there are any spaces available.
