Online webinar
10 NAATI recertification points
Have you ever wondered whether working with another translator might improve your work without cutting into your income?
This webinar looks at examples of how collaborative translation works in day-to-day professional practice. Drawing on decades of experience, Chris Durban unpacks how and why translators choose to collaborate; what collaborative models look like in practice; and how to make them a success.
She’ll discuss the pricing and client interactions you need to ensure that collaboration strengthens your business rather than undermines it, but also quality control, cross-revision, shared responsibility, and the role of trust in successful partnerships. Participants will leave with concrete ideas they can apply directly, along with a clear(er) understanding of issues that need special attention for collaboration to be sustainable.
Chris Durban is an experienced freelance translator based in Paris, working from French into English. A Fellow of the Institute of Translation & Interpreting (UK) and a member of the Société Française des Traducteurs (SFT), Chris is known for her focus on specialization and insights on working with direct clients. She regularly speaks to translator associations worldwide on these topics and others, and is a co-founder of and instructor on training courses including SFT’s “UETF” summer school for financial translators and the “Translate in…” series of writing workshops aimed specifically at translators.
This webinar is relevant for freelance translators, interpreters, and students who are considering collaborative workflows or already working with revisers and colleagues. Attendees will gain practical insights into quoting, managing profitability, and using collaboration as a strategic advantage rather than a cost.
