The AUSIT National Conference is the focal point in our annual calendar of events, bringing together translation and interpreting practitioners and scholars with industry stakeholders from around Australia and beyond. It provides a dynamic forum for exploring key issues in the field, fostering dialogue among professionals, researchers and educators.
The 2026 Organising Committee looks forward to welcoming delegates to this in-person event. The wide range of opportunities for connection, learning, exchange and growth within the language services industry makes the event quite extraordinary. The theme for this year’s conference is:
Quality translating and interpreting: a shared responsibility– revisiting the theme amidst the new challenges of our time
The 2026 conference will focus on this question: What is essential for the delivery of quality interpreting and translation? A productive relationship between practitioner, client and language service provider? Yes, definitely. But quality T&I also requires that governments (state and federal) actively support T&I practitioners; that bodies in stakeholder fields, such as legal and health, ensure good working conditions for T&I practitioners, and that the other professionals in these fields know how best to work with them; and that practitioners themselves continuously improve their knowledge and skills. The conference will bring together T&I practitioners and stakeholders – as both presenters and participants – to explore and discover ways in which we can take our profession forward.
