NZSTI Auckland Branch Meeting

With a few committee members stepping down (including Claire Sjaarda, the Branch Secretary), we would love to hear from members who are interested in contributing to the society. If you would like more information about what the committee does and what is involved, please email info@nzsti.org. If you are keen to join the committee, please submit your name to info@nzsti.org by 1 October 2019 (put Auckland Branch AGM as the subject) and let us know if you will be attending the AGM.
 
Also, the annual NZSTI Conference will be held in Auckland in 2020 and we need your help! We want to make this a great conference and, as they say, many hands make light work. If you are interested in being on the conference organising committee or just want to lend a hand when needed, please email info@nzsti.org to let us know (subject: Auckland conference volunteer).
 
The AGM will be followed by a presentation by Dr Vanessa Enriquez Raido entitled Go digital, stay human! Sustaining computer-mediated multilingual communication in the profession.This is your opportunity to have all your questions regarding computer assisted translation (CAT) answered!
Dr Enriquez Raido is the Acting Discipline Convener in Translation Studies at the University of Auckland.
 
As usual, the evening will start with social time and refreshments.

GETTING THERE: The University of Auckland city campus is easily accessible by public transport and there are always a bunch of us walking to public transport hubs after NZSTI events.
 
BUS, TRAIN, FERRY: Buses, trains and ferries are a convenient and cost-effective ways to get into the central city. The University of Auckland is only a 10-15 minute walk from Britomart or Wellesley St. Alternatively, there are bus services from the bottom of town to the city campus, for example the number 70 (from 50 Customs St East) and the 27 (from Commerce St near Galway St, right opposite Britomart train station). These services depart every 10-15 minutes and take you up Anzac Avenue to Symonds St (stops 7144 and 7146 respectively, near the corner of Symonds St and Waterloo Crescent).Use the Auckland Transport journey planner or Google Maps to plan your journey.
 
PARKING: Free car parking in the surrounding city streets is limited. Paid parking is available for a flat evening rate in the Owen Glenn Building (Business School), 12 Grafton Road.
