10 NAATI recertification points

Aimed at translators with little experience in medical translation but an interest in getting into the field or just expanding their knowledge, this presentation will give you an overview of all of the terminology and acronyms you are faced with when translating the lab results for a complete blood count (CBC).

This presentation is also suitable for interpreters who work in the medical field and need to talk to patients about blood test results.

As well as introducing you to the terminology, in this session we will take a closer look at what the various blood components actually are, what they do and how they work – and, in some cases, what they look like. This includes the various immune cells that circulate in your blood, as well as  antibodies, proteins, nutrient molecules, hormones, and other substances that are found in the plasma. At the end of this presentation you should be able to handle this kind of translation with confidence. You may even feel inspired to learn more and develop a specialisation in the medical area.

This event will be recorded so if you miss the live event you can watch it later. And if you attend the live event, you can watch it again!

The Zoom link will be sent to registered participants one day before the event. If you have not received the email with the link, please check your spam folder before emailing info@nzsti.org for assistance (during business hours on weekdays only).

Registrations close at 11.59 pm on 24 September 2024.
